Like a lot of us, I grew up glued to Jacques Cousteau documentaries, completely convinced that a life underwater was the only reasonable career plan. It took a few decades to make good on that childhood dream, but diving eventually became not just a hobby — it’s part of who I am.

I started the same way many divers do: PADI Open Water, then slowly working my way up until I became a Divemaster. Somewhere along the line I picked up a camera and decided everyone I knew needed to see the underwater world whether they asked for it or not.

A few years later I wandered into cave diving and technical diving — which is, of course, one of the most efficient ways to irresponsibly burn money. From there, rebreathers became my home, and I’ve never really looked back.

RUGGED SCUBA grew out of that obsession. I began designing and making small tools and accessories for the rebreathers I dive, along with a carefully chosen selection of gear I think other CCR divers will actually find useful. No gimmicks — just practical kit made by someone who genuinely uses it.

New products take time. Ideas need to simmer, prototypes need to be tested, and a lot of the actual work happens late at night after family time and my "other" career in software engineering. But don’t worry — orders ship daily, usually the next business day.
