Description
The exhaust valve from HYDPRO's D01 dry suit valve series. This is the automatic dump valve: it vents expanding gas as you ascend and sets how much gas the suit holds. This listing is the L-Fit (38 mm) port size.
Pentagon exhaust system
The D01 Rugged uses HYDPRO's patented Pentagon system, a redesign of the valve's exhaust mechanism. The sealing membrane has a considerably wider surface than conventional designs, which increases the airflow passage. Per HYDPRO, this gives the valve an exhaust capacity up to four times that of competing valves.
Why exhaust capacity matters
In a free-flow or an uncontrolled ascent, how fast the suit can dump gas affects how quickly you regain control. The D01 Rugged is built to move a high volume of gas fast when you need it.
Wide adjustment range
The automatic overpressure setting adjusts from 40 mbar, the highest value allowed by regulation, down to full venting at 0 mbar residual pressure. Running the suit at minimum gas volume is useful in low-clearance technical diving such as caves and wrecks.
Anti-leakage sealing
On traditional valves, holding the manual dump open longer than needed can let water track in past the membrane. The Pentagon system seals the D01 Rugged automatically as soon as residual pressure reaches zero. Per manufacturer, the larger non-return membrane blocks micro-leakage under any conditions.
Maintenance access
The D01 Rugged uses a bayonet-mount design, so the valve opens for cleaning and service without specialized disassembly. HYDPRO's position is that a serviceable valve stays safer over its life than a sealed valve that gets discarded when a part wears out.
Testing and certification
Per HYDPRO, the D01 series dry suit valves are certified to UNI EN 14225-2:2005, the European standard for dry suits, and every valve design is validated through 181 laboratory tests covering mechanical function, physical properties, and resistance to environmental conditions.
Port fit
This valve is the L-Fit size, with a 38 mm (1.5 in) suit-port interface. The D01 series is also made in S-Fit (34 mm / 1.34 in). Confirm your suit's valve port size before ordering.
